Long ago in the land of Lyra everyone lived peacefully. There was balance, harmony, and growth. Everyone was free to be themselves and do what was best for them because the Lyrans did not think in terms of greed, harm, or war. Everything was in proper balance.
Everyone in Lyra had their role, yet no role was seen as more important than the other. They all understood that everyone was a unique individual working together for the greater good of the society. This was a time of peace.
One day Lyra was invaded by vandals. These vandals had destroyed their own home through warring, and now they were going from place to place looking to steal resources and conquer people. These vandals used violence, threats, and intimidation to get what they wanted. Because the Lyrans did not think in terms of disunity, they were not prepared for such an attack.
In the midst of this great war, the elders held a meeting.
“We have to hold true to our values no matter what. These are strange beings from strange lands but we must not become like them. We will defend ourselves no matter what, but we are harmless and protect the greater good of everyone”, said Tathua, one of the leaders of the land.
But what they did not understand at the time was that these vandals were skilled at psychological warfare. They knew how to turn people against one another so that they couldn’t defend themselves because they would be fighting each other.
It was a long battle.
The society that was once balanced and free turned into tyranny. No one could speak their minds freely, some people were seen as better than others and some were seen as lesser, the leaders didn’t help people in need – they sought to discourage and disempower them.
They created a society that made most people weak and dependent in order for a few to have power over everyone. People were not allowed to think for themselves or embrace their unique skills and abilities. This was not a happy time. Yet people were so afraid that they had forgotten how to peacefully defend themselves.
Yet there were some who remembered. The Keepers of the Great Flame mostly kept to themselves in order to protect their values and the knowledge they held. Yet when they tried to weave themselves into society they were ridiculed, punished, and banned from operating in society with everyone else.
But they never gave up. No matter how much they were humiliated and ostracized, they stood by their principles of reminding their people of their pledge:
We are the Keepers of the Great Flame. We do not consent to power abuses. We do not consent to tyranny. We are divine. We are free. We are all unique. We are all equal. We are one.
This is a story of how sometimes you have to reach your lowest point in order to reach your highest. Most of the Lyrans could not remember that pledge. But they started to look around at their living conditions and they knew it wasn’t right. They were tired of being yelled at, abused, and not allowed to be their true selves. They were tired of unnecessary restrictions and cruelty. They were tired of wars and fighting. But they didn’t know what to do.
They started building structures to work alongside of what was already in place. Within these structures they set the rules for how they wanted it to be – things would be run with kindness as a priority. The goal would be to help people and not hurt them. Leadership would have to prove that they had strong morals and good character and abuses would not be accepted.
More and more structures, businesses, and organizations started being built with this in mind. As the energy went into these, there wasn’t much energy left to feed the structures built by the power hungry abusers. Eventually their structures all collapsed because the people refused to participate in them. They were on their way to winning the war without fighting.
As luck would have it, a powerful and benevolent group, the Solar Dragons, came to visit after hearing what was going on. They were like the parents of the Keepers of the Great Flame. They were far more skilled, intelligent, and powerful than the vandals so they removed them from the land with swiftness and ease. It was all done very peacefully.
Then the people remembered their pledge:
We are the Keepers of the Great Flame. We do not consent to power abuses. We do not consent to tyranny. We are divine. We are free. We are all unique. We are all equal. We are one.
And so it is.
